My problem with the Indie market

This is probably not the first to rise up and most likely won't be the last. I hope to make this as concise as possible but I have a problem with redundancy (here is hoping you would forgive me).

Now, I appriciate the existence of an Indie market quite a lot,  to give the developers chance to create a game on their own merits and reap the harvest of a successful sale. Sadly, I don't see too much innovation in terms of games but rather the revitalizing of old forgotten games. There have been certainly some great Indy games (Bastion, Amnesia: Dark Descent, I am Alive etc) but majority are basically just a step back in the nostalgia lane.

Kickstarters are all too common a trend. Initially it was a bold idea to ask fans support for a game to stand on its feet and then make a name. But after a few successful tryouts it just seems kickstarters are made just for the hell of fundraising. At the same time I see people arguing about DLCs and growing costs of games online yet most are perfectly fine shelling out 100s of dollars for a game with half the quality.

I am hoping with the stance Sony is making for the Indie market is not mired in cheap mini games which barely amount to more than a mobile app (DiveKick?). Some of them are just for laugh but then there is a line where its just cheap cash in. The Indie devs now have access to a highly capable platform here and I would hope to see some more innovation.

Also it seems as much as gamers are used to complaining and expecting things, it should be noted that ultimately in the end the gameplay and quality really matters on how we choose what games to support. Ever since the release of the current gen games there has been this underneath fatigue of lack of gameplay variety and sadly that basic point really comes down to what type appeals to the masses. Ex. Lately there has been a craving for open-world capability to games but it just seems we want it in every single game that we play today. I imagine pretty soon this will catch on fire (if it hasn't already) and we are going to see games with another done to death mechanic.
