Sooo... seeing as how I got off early from work today I figure I would instead of just starting blankly at my screen (feels so good), indulge the community. Normally I would use this opportunity to catch up on some gaming but my work schedule has conditioned me to treat my gaming lick a filthy late night porn addiction. I just can't seem to get it up before twelve... I need to do it sleazy cause I am a gaming rebel! But enough of my personal problems, this blog is about you... the filthy GI community!...That didn't sound right.

Its pretty much standard today to own more than one system to fulfill your gaming needs. With the reach of these software, its almost guaranteed that no single dedicated system will have access to every single game that is in production. As such, we tend to find ways to improve our chances by owning a secondary system to your primary. There are several choices and everyone has their preference as to what coupling yields more benefits. So just as the title asks, what is your favorite combination of hardware? There are several candidates to choose from:

1) The PC/Notebooks:

One time or another you have either owned or used one of these thingiemagics at one point in your life and this being the digital world as it is today, its almost unimaginable that anyone doesn't have some form of computer device.. So what better way to have a tool that also does entertainment and media all in one. As long as you keep it well updated you will most definitely have the highest quality of gaming possible. However, it lacks access to those flagship titles that the consoles do to make it a complete package. Often enough you are bound to be the random crowd that gets a terrible port of a well made game. Its also good for late night porn...

2)  The Xbox 1:

Normally like the PCs i would lump theaw into a general category but all three systems have definitely begun to show some differences as they mature as well as define their target audience. The X1 definitely has a host of  personal features to be an untapped gold mine, with backwards compatibility  being a window to revisit last generation games. This baby also has access to latest and greatest titles out there as well as have a few of their own unique list of games that show off the hardware's power. But like any systems there are trade offs and biggest one being... it's no PC. But lump one next to it and watch them change information and seamlessly connect you from one hardware to another making the need to own legs useless!

3) The PS4:

The most popular console currently out there and definitely goes easy on your limited shelf space. But honestly you need to do a better job organizing your shelf space if that is the issue... but whatever this isn't a home improvement guide. This beauty gets the bear share of the games and access to games that everyone will get on everything else... but you get it first!! Currently the spotlight is on Sony and they are burning a trail to the top, it has lot to offer and a bunch of promises to live up to this year. What better way to await for greatness than playing the host of amazing third party and a few but quality exclusive titles the PS 4 currently offers, as greatness gets delayed year over year.? While the PS4 might not have the same robust feature of its rival, it definitely has the potential to offer a whole lot more in new games and experience. If you are willing to wait.

4) The WII U:

Perhaps the only system that can be called autistic. It lives in its own world and marches to its own beat and you can only find their quality games here. The WII U often provides quality where it matters more often compared to the other two. While you won't be seeing everything, you won't be disappointed with the quality and the creativity in their games for the first couple of times... then you need a break. Fortunately, the unique offering of the WII U and its large list of exclusive titles definitely makes it an alluring deal to a PC, Xbox or even a PS4. Those that play it will vouch for it but if you need more variety you will definitely need something to offset its unique selections.

5) Handhelds and Mobile:

Some people are always on the go and can't afford to spend the time for bigger games. Sometimes people just need a break from them and play something simple, Their wallets would thank them if they could talk but its probably good that they don't because it would be a wasted effort as you are too busy playing your games. This is arguably the most versatile combo as it allows you to play different niche titles from a continually growing list of variable quality as you sneak in a few sessions at work. While your work may suffer, your top scores won't. If paired with a consoles some of them can even act as an extension and allow you stream bigger games while being away from your console.

So? Which of these two candidates make a good pairing for a gamer to get the best bang for their buck? More specifically for you. I will share my dirty little secret if you share yours. Remember this is your personal opinion and you don't have to take the bigger picture into account. Everyone has their preference so it would be appreciated if you can give a short reason for your pick. To me its interesting to think that people in this day and still don't have access to a base level of PC for personal use.

My Top Combo:

The PC/PS4!!

I wonder if you saw that coming...? Regardless, these are the two that best suits my gaming needs. By all accounts I am largely a mianstream gamer. I want to see the potential before making an investment and how best does it cater to my wants. Nostalgia is great but I upgraded to a new hardware to see the new gen rather than reliving a very recent past. Its a nice bonus to boast but one I will most likely never make use of, assuming there are no shortages of  new things to play. Sony was a brand I entered into console gaming with and I find their selection of titles catering to my tastes more than Microsoft's X. Not that it doesn't boast value, just not the kind of value I am looking for..It was more than apparent with my time with a 360.

Where does the PC fit in you ask? Well allow me to give you another long winded paragraph on it. No, its non-negotiable. For me PC has always been a tool first and a game system second, as long my PC was  capable of allowing me to make a living it was fine and the games I could play was merely a bonus. If my laptop of nine years had not given out, I would have owned a PS4 already, however work takes priority and I invested in a proper desktop which switched the gaming dynamic heavily. A PS4 is still in my future but not just yet, eventually it will have a staple of games I will not find anywhere else making it that much more alluring of a deal. Till that time my current rig will keep me blissfully occupied. And so in conclusion I would like to say... I warned you it would be a long paragraph.

                                                                                        THE END
